words for {product} that:
- Front-loads benefit in the first 80 chars (visible before "Read more")

3. 4 bullet benefits tying specs → use cases

5. Compatibility list
6. Warranty + support line

5. Beauty / personal care product
Shopify product description for {beauty_product}.
Required mentions: hero ingredients, skin type fit, fragrance status,
test methodology (cruelty-free / dermatologist-tested / etc).
Primary keyword: {keyword}. Avoid restricted claims (no "heals",
"treats", "cures" — those need FDA approval).
Length: 350-450 words.
Structure: hook → ingredient story → how to use (numbered steps) →
3 bullet benefits → ingredient list → care/storage.
6. Print-on-demand t-shirt or poster
POD listing: {design description}.
Brand voice: {voice}.
Mention: print method, fabric/material spec, sizing fit, care
instructions, design source (your original art / licensed / public
domain).
Length: 200-300 words. POD buyers want to verify fit + print quality —
front-load those answers.
Primary keyword: "{keyword}".
7. High-ticket considered purchase ($300+)
Shopify product description for a high-ticket product (${price}).
At this price, buyers spend 10+ minutes reading the PDP.
Length: 700-1000 words. Justify the price.
Structure:
1. Headline benefit (one line)
2. Comparison vs cheaper alternatives (table)
3. 5 key benefits with proof (each: claim + supporting evidence)
4. How it's made (provenance, quality control, materials sourcing)

for real quotes)
6. Specs + warranty
7. FAQ block (4 questions buyers ask before paying ${price})
Voice: {voice}.
8. Sustainable / eco-friendly product
Shopify product description emphasizing sustainability for {product}.
Required: cite specific environmental claims with proof — never say
"eco-friendly" or "sustainable" without backing.
Acceptable claim formats:
- "Made from {N}% recycled material" (cite the percentage)
- "Certified by {cert_name}" (cite the certification)
- "Manufactured in {location} reducing transport emissions by {N}%"
- "Plastic-free packaging" (cite plant-based alternative)
Length: 400-500 words. Primary keyword: {keyword}.
Avoid: vague green claims ("planet-friendly", "natural", "clean").
Section 2 — Optimize existing PDP copy (7 prompts)
9. Rewrite for SEO (low Google ranking)
This product ranks page 4 on Google for "{keyword}".
Current description (paste below): "{paste current desc}"
Rewrite to:
- Include keyword in: H1, first 100 chars, an H2, and 2 body mentions
- Add 4 semantic LSI keywords from {related_keyword_list}
- Stay between 400-600 words
- Keep brand voice consistent with: {voice_sample}
After rewriting, list the on-page SEO changes you made and predicted
rank delta over 30 days.
10. Rewrite for higher conversion
This PDP has 8K monthly visits but 1.4% conversion rate (industry
benchmark 2.8%). Current description: "{paste}"
Diagnose the conversion gap and rewrite. Common issues to fix:
- Weak hook (no benefit clarity in first sentence)
- Hidden price-justifying value
- Missing trust signals (warranty / returns / certifications)
- Too much story, too few specs
- No urgency or scarcity (if applicable to product type)
Print: (a) diagnosed issues, (b) rewritten description, (c) what
changed.
11. Localize for international market
US Shopify description for {product}: "{paste}"
Localize for {UK | AU | DE | FR | ES | CA}.
Apply:
- Spelling (UK: colour, AU: customise, etc.)
- Local idioms / cultural references
- Local units (g/oz, cm/in, °C/°F)
- Regional shipping & returns expectations
- Local SEO keyword: "{local_keyword}" (replaces US keyword)
- Currency formatting
Keep brand voice consistent. Print localized description with diff
notes.
12. Compress an over-long description
Current description is 1,200 words. Mobile shoppers bounce. Compress
to ≤350 words while preserving:
- Primary keyword "{keyword}" + 2 related keywords
- Top 3 buyer concerns answered
- All warranty/return policy mentions
- Brand voice
Current: "{paste}".
Print compressed version + list of cut sections with one-line rationale
each.
13. Variant-specific descriptions
Master description for product line "{product_line}": "{paste master}"
Generate 5 variant-specific descriptions for variants: {variant1,
variant2, ..., variant5}.
Each variant description should:
- Share 60% of master copy (brand voice, story, warranty)
- Have 40% variant-unique content (specs, use case, color/style story)
- Stay 250-350 words
- Include the variant name in H1 and first 80 chars
Output as 5 separate descriptions.
14. Bundle / kit description
Bundle of {N} individual products: {p1, p2, ..., pN}.
Each has its own Shopify PDP at: {url1, url2, ...}.
Write a bundle PDP description that:
- Justifies the bundle (vs buying individually)
- Mentions the savings ${$x off}
- Cross-references individual product pages for spec deep-dives
- Stays 400-500 words
- Includes bundle-specific keyword: "{bundle_keyword}"
15. Description for a refurbished / open-box item
Refurbished Shopify listing for {product}.
Required transparency:
- "Refurbished" or "Open box" in first 50 chars
- Specific cosmetic condition rating (A/B/C grade with definition)
- What's included vs original
- Warranty difference vs new
- Savings vs new price
Length: 300-400 words. Tone: trust-building, no minimization of the
refurbished status.
Section 3 — Bulk operations + AI hygiene (5 prompts)
16. Generate 10 PDP descriptions from a CSV row
I'll paste a CSV with 10 product rows. Columns: product_name, primary_kw,
3_benefits, 3_specs, voice_tag. Generate one Shopify PDP description per
row (250-350 words each).
Voice mapping: "casual" = friendly informal / "expert" = factual
authoritative / "warm" = empathetic + personal pronouns.
Output as numbered list. Don't skip rows. If a row has incomplete data,
flag it instead of fabricating.
CSV:
{paste 10 rows}
17. Detect & strip AI tells from a draft
Audit this draft Shopify description for AI-generated tells:
{paste draft}
Look for:
- Em-dash overuse — common in GPT-4/5 output
- Phrases: "nestled", "elevate", "unlock", "in today's world", "whether you're", "look no further"
- Tricolons ("X, Y, and Z" stacked 3+ times in a row)
- Empty rhetorical openings ("Imagine if...")
- Overuse of "perfectly" / "seamlessly" / "effortlessly"
Rewrite to remove these markers while preserving meaning. Show diff.
18. Fact-check before publish
Pre-publish fact-check for this Shopify description:
{paste draft}
For each factual claim (specs, certifications, ingredients,
performance), categorize: (a) verifiable from public source, (b) needs
internal documentation, (c) unverifiable as written — needs softening.
For category (b) and (c), suggest the safe rewrite or flag for manual
verification.
19. Generate the meta description from PDP body
Source product description (paste): "{paste full description}"
Generate the Shopify meta description (titled "search engine listing
preview"):
- 150-155 characters
- Contains primary keyword "{keyword}" in first half
- Compels a click (CTR-optimized, not just descriptive)
- No clickbait language
Output 3 variants ranked by predicted CTR with reasoning.
20. Final pre-save validator
Final check before saving Shopify product description:
{paste final draft}
Validate:
1. Primary keyword "{keyword}" appears 3-5 times (not less, not more)
2. Reading level Flesch 60-70 (easy 8th grade)
3. No restricted claims (FTC: no "guaranteed weight loss", FDA: no
medical claims, FCC: no signal range claims without testing)
4. Mobile readability: first 80 chars contain the hook + keyword
5. Schema-ready structure: clear product name, clear benefits, clear specs
For each fail, suggest minimum-edit fix. If all pass: print READY.
What to verify before saving
Three checks for every Shopify PDP push:
- Run the final validator (Prompt #20) and the AI-tells detector (Prompt #17). Together they catch ~90% of conversion-killing copy issues.
- Google’s preview in the Shopify editor (Search engine listing → Edit preview). Verify title + meta description render correctly, keyword visible in the first 60 chars of meta.
- Test on mobile in Shopify’s preview. If “Read more” link truncates before the value prop, your description is too front-loaded with story.
Tools we use to validate Shopify PDPs:
- Shopify Magic — Shopify’s built-in AI writer (free in Plus)
- Jasper — ecom templates with brand voice training
- Copy.ai — bulk product description generation
- SellerCard — generates listing images for Shopify + adapts copy to Amazon/Etsy if you publish cross-marketplace
§ Reader questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED.
01 How long should a Shopify product description be?
300-500 words for most consumer products. Under 200 for impulse-buy items (under $25). 700-1000+ for high-ticket considered purchases ($300+). Mobile shoppers scan the first 200 — front-load benefit + primary keyword there.
02 Will Google penalize AI-generated product descriptions?
Google's March 2024 Core Update demotes scaled AI content that lacks information gain — that means descriptions identical to manufacturer specs or stock descriptions. AI-generated copy with your unique brand voice, original benefits framing, and verified specs ranks normally. Risk is duplication, not the AI itself.
03 Should the meta description be different from the product description?
Yes. Meta description has its own job: CTR optimization in SERPs. It's 150-155 chars and should compel the click, not describe the product. Prompt #19 covers this.
04 Does ChatGPT need to know my brand voice every time?
Yes, but you can shortcut it. Build a 50-word voice doc once (e.g., witty, warm, expert; uses contractions; avoids superlatives; cites sources) and paste at the top of every prompt. After 5-10 reuses, save as a Custom GPT or system prompt.
05 How often should I refresh Shopify product descriptions?
Every 6-12 months for evergreen products, plus immediately after: a category leader's competitor launch, a 20%+ traffic or conversion drop, or a meaningful product change (new ingredient, new spec, updated certification). Save the prior version in a backup field — Google may bounce you temporarily after major rewrites.
